Slovenia (i/sloʊˈviːniə, slə-, -njə/sloh-VEE-nee-ə; Slovene: Slovenija [slɔˈʋéːnija]), officially the Republic of Slovenia (Slovene:
Republika Slovenija ,abbr.: RS), is a nation state in southern Central Europe, located at the crossroads of main European cultural and trade routes. It is bordered by Italy to the west, Austria to the north, Hungary to the northeast, Croatia to the south and southeast, and the Adriatic Sea to the southwest. It covers 20,273 square kilometers (7,827 sq mi) and has a population of 2.06 million. It is a parliamentary republic and a member of the United Nations, European Union, and NATO.The capital and largest city is Ljubljana.
The territory is mostly mountainous with a mainly continental climate, with the exception of the Slovene Littoral that has a sub-Mediterranean climate and the north-western area that has an Alpine climate. Additionally, the Dinaric Alps and the Pannonian Plain meet on the territory of Slovenia. The country, marked by a significant biological diversity, is one of the most water-rich in Europe, with a dense river network, a rich aquifer system, and significant karst underground watercourses. Over half of the territory is covered by forest. The human settlement of Slovenia is dispersed and uneven.
National Assembly politically is either a legislature, or the lower house of a bicameral legislature in some countries. In the English language it generally means "an assembly composed of the representatives of the nation." The population base represented by this name is manifestly the nation as a whole, as opposed to a geographically select population, such as that represented by a provincial assembly. Its powers vary according to the type of government. It may possess all the powers, generally governing by committee, or it may function within the legislative branch of the government.
The name also must be distinguished from the concept. Conceptually such an institution may appear under variety of names, especially if "national assembly" is being used to translate foreign names of the same concept into English. Also, the degree to which the National Assembly speaks for the nation is a variable. To achieve a quorum, the ancient Athenian Assembly employed Scythian police to arrest citizens at random from the street. On the other hand, the early Parliaments of Europe were mainly of an aristocratic composition. The word had its origins and inspirations from the National Assembly that was responsible for drafting a constitution during the French Revolution.

SLOVENIA - I Feel sLOVEnia Slovenia in Brief Map of Slovenia The Republic of Slovenia lies at the heart of Europe where the Alps and the Mediterranean meet the Pannonian plains and the mysterious karst. To the north is Austria, to the east Hungary, to the south Croatia, and to the west Italy. Two million people live here on just over twenty thousand square kilometers. Slovenia became an independent state in 1991. It has since established an international position and reputation as a democratic, stable and successful Central European country. Today it is an important international player – a place where statesmen would meet, a member of international organisations, and a country enjoying friendly ties with other countries around the world. Slovenia became a member of the EU on May 1, 20...

I wish we could go back to the good old days
Travel video about destination Slovenia. Half of Slovenia's colorful area is covered by forests, but the country also has another part, a tiny, but very nice coastal area on the Adriatic Sea, with such venetian style cities as Izola, Piran and Portoroz, as well as 2,800 meters high mountains and ski resorts. The picturesque lakes Bled and Bohinj both lie in a wonderful landscape. The gem of the karstic area is the Postojna cave. The tiny country has plenty of wild rivers suitable for rafting and healing waters. Golf, mountineering, diving, mountain biking and rock climbing are also warmly welcomed in Slovenia. The Lippizan is well known all around the globe. All of this is completed by such medieval towns as Maribor, Skofja Loka and Ljubljana, and such romantic castles as the Predjama....
Here's my top three must see spots in Slovenia over two days. Postojna Caves and Predjama Castle can easily be done in one day leaving from Ljubljana, Slovenia. Lake Bled should be one day and one night from Ljubljana. Ljubljana is a great place as well and a perfect central location to hit Slovenia's top spots!

Ljubljana is the capital of the young republic of Slovenia, a city of culture and history, elegance and charm. It is Slovenia’s ‘Florence’ situated between the Alps and the Balkans, the Adriatic and Lake Balaton. The Old Place, with a monument of national poet, Prešeren, is the gateway to the Old Town. With its pink marble façade, the Early Baroque Franciscan Church Of Mary dominates the square. The Dom Church Stolnica was built according to the design of Venetian, Andrea Pozzo in the 17th century. The interior of this Baroque church is quite overwhelming and with great attention to detail. Situated on the four hundred metre high Castle Hill, the Slovenian Acropolis was once inhabited by the Illyrians and Celts. The Roman watchtower later became both a strategic fortress and castle. A...
Travel video about destination Slovenija. Slovenia is a Central European country at the geographical intersection of three worlds, the Alps, the Mediterranean and the Pannonian Basin. Ljubljana is the capital of this young republic. The Old Place is considered to be the gateway to the Old Town which possesses grace, soul and charm. The Early Baroque Franciscan Church Of Mary was built in the middle of the seventeenth century and boasts a monumental main altar. In this area of the city, the Middle Ages meet with both Baroque and Art Nouveau. Our journey through the Triglav National Park begins on the northern edge of the triangular border of Slovenia, Italy and Austria, in Kranjska Gora, the best known and most well equipped ski resort in Slovenia. The Slap Peričnik in Sava Valley is one...
Being the midpoint between the Slavic, Germanic, and Italian worlds gives Ljubljana a special spice. This tiny town has only about a quarter-million people, but it's by far the country's largest city, cultural capital, and a charming place to kick off any Slovenian trip. The Slovenian-Croatian peninsula of Istria is one of Europe‘s oldest settlement areas, the Pearl Of Adria with an eventful history and much multicultural flair; a rich interface between both Mediterranean and mediaeval cultures. In Koper, Istria’s economic centre and most important harbour city, the Old Town can be entered through the last remaining twelve gates of the city’s former defensive wall. In its heyday the city boomed with wine, oil, salt and fish and many merchants and craftsmen from Italy settled there and the Palazzo Belgramoni Tacco became the region‘s museum. The mediaeval town of Piran is located on a narrow promontory that juts out into Piran Bay like the bow of a ship. On a cliff above the old town is the Sanct George Church, and a bell tower on the town’s fortified w...
Take a tour of Bled Lake and Island in Slovenia -- part of the World's Greatest Attractions travel video series by GeoBeats. One of Slovenia's few natural lakes, and also one the country's most enamoring features is the expansive Lake Bled. Gently disturbing the smooth, glassy surface of the lake is a single small island, called Bled Island. Secluded by trees, the 15th century Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Mary is visible on the island thanks to its tall steeple. In the winter, snow blankets the shores of Lake Bled and the calm surface of the waters frequently freeze over. The Alps, which rise strikingly above the lake and reflect their image in the still water, provide a gorgeous backdrop to the scene. Because of how beautiful Bled Island is, many couples trave...
